We have a live session scheduled with The Dodos in late October and this video has me all hot and bothered. Their recent release Time To Die is their best yet and this video for “Fables” captures the band’s magic. I’ve walked away from every show mesmerized by their percussion. This is best illustrated by the tambourine duct taped to the foot.

The Dodos are releasing their third album, Time To Die, on September 15th via Frenchkiss Records. The album was produced by Phil Ek (Built To Spill, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) which should take their sound, punctuated by crazy percussion and finger-picking guitar, to the next level. Here’s what he band has to say about the album:

After Visiter, we had a lot of options for which direction to go,” says Long, “But I knew we wanted to make a rock record. Being an acoustic band”primarily, at least”sort of works against this idea, but Phil’s production showcased that side of our band.
