Hockey Dad – Blend Inn (album review)

Hockey Dad are the Australian duo of Zach Stephenson & Billy Fleming, a duo that has been surfing and rocking since the age of four. And for their second effort as Hockey Dad, the duo delivers a dozen tracks of infectious surf-punk.

Blend Inn is Diet Cig levels of a fun. And like Swear I’m Good At This, Blend Inn sees the boys navigating the terrain of finding your place. Tunes like Join The Club, Where I Came From and I Wanna Be Everybody do a great job of exploring the subject in a fun manner.

Blend Inn refers to somewhere more introspective. “Blend Inn is the part of your head that you want to go to when you’re overseas and wishing you were back home, it’s within,” says Fleming. Tracks like Homely Feeling convey that so well.

Blend Inn is a nice step forward for the boys and I’m looking forward to catching them in a live setting soon enough.

Hockey Dad announce Blend Inn for 2/9/18 release

Hockey Dad are the Australian pop-punk duo with their roots squarely set in the 90s. Blend Inn will be the follow up to 2016’s Boronia. Blend Inn will see the light of the day on Feb 9th via the fine folks at Kanine Records. Here’s a little something on the upcoming album.

The duo are on the verge of releasing their highly-anticipated second album Blend Inn, the follow up to 2016’s debut Boronia. Where Boronia celebrated the long days of summers past, of mates, the ocean and the sublime naivety of youth, Blend Inn is Fleming and Stephenson coming to us with more perspective following a year of relentless touring which took them far from the streets and waves of their hometown.
