Feels – Post Earth (album review)

by Woody on February 25, 2019

On their sophomore album, Feels continues to find that sweet spot between punk and new wave. On the sludgy, dark title track; Feels paints the rare dystopian picture that will put a smile on your face. Billionaires are fleeing Earth after we completely turn our planet to shit before getting their just due towards the end.

That seems to be the central tenet here. Feels is pissed and they’re not enjoying the general apathy being shown. The track fires out of the gate with Car and its scuzzy guitar lick. Awful Need follows which has a Sleater-Kinnney feel to it, between the use of backing vocals and the stop ‘n’ go nature to the track. Sour, planted in the middle of the album, has this spacey new-wave feel to it as the band rails against the forces that profit of division.

Their debut was solid but wasn’t memorable for the long haul. Post Earth really propels the band forward in many ways.

Feels announces Post Earth for 2/22/19

by Woody on November 13, 2018

Feels is a punk band out of LA and Post Earth will be their sophomore album. It will see the light of day on 2/22 via the fine folks at Wichita Records and the lead track is killer. I gave their first LP a quick spin and I have to say, I’m really looking forward to hearing the rest of Post Earth. Here’s some info via the PR team.

“It wasn’t intentional to write a politically charged record,” says bassist Amy Allen, who constitutes FEELS with Laena Geronimo (guitar/vocals), Shannon Lay (guitar/vocals), and Michael Perry Rudes (drums). “But the way the world is functioning right now made it impossible to write about anything else. We all need to figure it out; we’re running out of time. The golden age is over.”
