Since Oz now lives in Atlanta (a music scene step-up from wherever he lived before), I’ve included Atlanta in this month’s recommended shows. I must say the month of music doesn’t look too good in Atlanta, although Chicago doesn’t look all that promising either. One of two things has happened here: 1) Touring in January is awful, or 2) I’ve missed some good shows. Let us know if there are some good bands to check out in your neck of the nape. See you at the rock show.

Pickathon is now in its eleventh year, so okay…you may have heard of it. For those that haven’t, it packs a weekend full of great music and unique settings with multiple sets from each of the 35 bands on 6 different stages for three full days.
The fest is located outside of Portland, OR at Pendarvis Farm on over 80 acres of lush meadow and forested campgrounds with hiking, audience views of Mt. Hood, food and craft vendors and a beer garden. The event is being hosted from July 31st through August 2nd and the lineup is damn tasty. Click here for all the details and remember that Portland is just a cheap Southwest flight away.
