Hey There HearYa, Dean here from way out on the Wet Coast in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
I just wanted to pass on that you are now my favorite music blog/website on the planet. The music you cover is basically the same ballpark of music that I like, ie the Deep Dark Woods, Ox, the Maldives, the Low Anthem and so on.
As you can see I like that alt-folk-indie, americana-indie, alt-country-indie sound or however you want to describe. You seem to cover this sort of sound here at your website.
I remember back in the day, a long, long time ago, when Pitchforkmedia was the cats ass for me in researching new music. Now I look at them and their 2010 album of the year list and I am completely out of sync with them.
Anyhow, keep up the good work, and look forward to hanging about your site like a fly on the wall. Love it.
Just curious, have you heard of this band out of Philidelphia called The Great Unknown? Their new EP called ‘New Skin’ EP is absolutely spectacular and in that sort of genre I mentioned above. Listen to the 4 songs from beginning to end and you should be sold – http://thegreatunknownmusic.com/listen/
Also, you shoud check out Canada’s Doug Paisley. His new album ‘Constant Companion’ is a stunner. Uncut has it no. 10 on their year 2010 best albums list.
Keep up the good work
Dean
Hi there – greetings from across the pond!
Really pleased to see your endorsement of The Deep Dark Woods – cracking band.
Having trouble downloading the latest session though, as the file opens but there don’t appear to be any MP3s within it (according to the techny fella here..!)??
Anyone else reported similar problems?
Keep up the good work
Johnny
PS Any chance of a session from The Tallest Man On Earth, or Caitlin Rose perhaps…?!!
Hey now, just thought I would throw this out there. Have you ever thought to review Doug Paisleys newest Constant Companion? Just wondering. It sounds like something you would get into. How about live session with him? That would be pretty bad ass. All right then, I’m out. Thanks for all you do.
Yo,
I just got back from Liverpool, England. Found this cool band – you guys should check them out. Just a quick heads up before the thing explodes.

Dax Riggs…..Say Goodnight to the World….is this not a 2010 album?!
You guys covered it nicely in multiple “Hear Ya Sessions”….the album owns most of the albums you picked for the best of 2010…and its not represented….very disappointed in the oversight.
I would like your permission to play the HearYa session on my amateur radio show launching next and for royalties to be waived
I know this is a wicked long shot, but by any chance are there any old issues from the 70′s containing stories about The Beatles, and if so, what would it cost me to get the back issues. I’ve always been a big fan of the “Fab Four” and I lost a lot of my clippings of The Beatles I had for years, for some unknown reason the clippings are lost. I would be real grateful if I couldget an old copy.
Please don’t be mis-lead by my email address, Everything I have of The Beatles is for my own colection, I have nothing to profit but my own grsditttude. Thank you very much.

Well fellas…how can I help? I put out free indie playlists every month that have started to receive a nice following and a steady stream of great music submissions from all over the world. A buddy of mine turned me onto the Jukebox live session and just stumbling upon ya. Let’s connect! TheIndiePlaylists.com
Hi there!
I read your stories every single day, it really keeps me informed on what’s going on in the music entertainment world! So thank you for that!
The reason why I’m coming to your site is because Andy Grammer will be coming out with his first, full album on June 14th and I was wondering if you could do an article about his new album. It’s called, “Andy Grammer” and this album is a long time coming. He’s been working so hard to make it as an artist and he’s finally getting the recognition that he deserves. He’s recently won MTV’s 2011 Most Innovative Music Video and has been performing on radio and television shows. He’ll also be doing a summer national tour with Natasha Bedingfield and Kate Voegle. I really hope you consider doing an article for him. If you have an questions please feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you so much for your time, have a great day!
Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that your doing great work. Love the site and the music you choose to review and support.
Keep up the great work.

Hey guys, I’ve been reading Hearya for years now. I just wanted to say I miss the old format when the posts were all on one page, and at the end you could go to “older posts”. Now you sort of have to navigate in and out of different posts, so if you’re trying to catch up after a while its a bit burdensome. I’m sure there’s good reason for the change, but I wanted to give some feedback. Keep up the great work!
Cheers!
Hey!
I absolutely love the site. I was wondering if you offer internships? Thanks.
Hey guys-
I’ve been a loyal reader of the blog (and sometime poster) since fall ’07. I moved to Chicago yesterday from NYC and would love to get your take on where to find the best on Chicago’s live music scene. I’d also like to put faces to the posts I have read – so let me know if there is a show where I can meet any of you gents. Finally, as a frequent listener of the live sessions, I’d love to see where the magic happens. Any chance of sitting in on one?
THANKS!!!!
Hi Hearya,
I’ve just finished putting together this music video for Bon Iver’s new single ‘Holocene’.
http://vimeo.com/27779348
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3LxKNLn6nI
It was shot on the South Island of New Zealand and plays on the lost in the woods feel of Bon Iver’s music.
I hope you like it,
Dylan

Wow great blog! I really dig all of the music you cover and will be subscribing to this blog. As a fellow music blogger I am motivated by your blog to improve my own! If you ever get the chance can you check out my blog at thebuzzzstop.com and critique it? Good or bad I would like to hear what an established blogger has to say. Keep up the good work!
We seek to be a refreshing blend of catchy melodies and simple instrumentation for an overall sound that is a nod to nostalgic yet modern and fresh. We are named the Brocks after the last name of the two brothers that formed the band, and sing and write our songs, and this really represents the ideals we have as a band. If you look around in music you see so many people trying so, so hard. We named our band after our last name. Its simple. Its who we are. The idea of letting who we are take over in our music naturally, and unhindered by trying to look, dress, act, and sound a certain way, or to appear a certain way, is really one of the main driving forces behind the Brocks music, and provides an unadulterated musical experience for our listeners. That’s our brand. Pureness. Nothing contrived. Super real, and just really good.
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to let you know I really dig your content, writing style, and the layout as a whole. Very cool. I’ve actually got you linked on my site. If you get a chance, check it out http://www.wordsandfire.com. If you happen to dig it, link me up!

Hi! we are a young indie rock band coloured with electronic and jazz. We released our first album and made the songs available on http://modernafrica.bandcamp.com/ . There is also going to be a official release of the album which will be sold in stores and online. We’ve made an acoustic session which was filmed and mixed by us. We’re working hard to get it done, there’s a lot of job to do but it will soon be released on youtube. Thank you for following Modern Africa. Btw there’s no racial term about the name of our band, and we’re aged between 19 and 20 year’s old.

Hi! I found this blog in an online directory for musicians and it was listed as “one of the most influential music blogs”. Pretty cool listings here – found some interesting indie tunes to add to my shuffle.
I’d like to introduce myself. I’m a solo [self-taught] guitar player and song writer, and I had just released my debut EP album, “The taming of the wolf” (http://maximsenin.bandcamp.com/album/the-taming-of-the-wolf-ep). I like songs that tell a story in first-person, usually involving love triangles, break-ups, unanswered love etc.
Cheers,
Maxim
Thanks for the Bailiff session…you discover the BEST music and produce it SO WELL!!
Can hardly wait til they get to Seattle…
Hey Guys, I need to make a switch on my email. Can you help me with that. Every time I try and go through the subscribe page, it takes me to a page that actually doesn’t allow me to make any changes. Can you send emails to tim@racepony.com instead? Thanks for the help! Merry Christmas!
Tim

I’ve tried to find a page on your website to simply add a new address and it just doesn’t seem to exist for me. after I click the subscribe to link, it takes me to a page that that doesn’t have a space to add an email. I am currently getting emails at tim@grizzlybird.com, I need that changed to tim@racepony.com. What can I do?
Tim
