Thanks for the kind words, Timmy Martin. I was really happy with the way that one came out. Dax and his band did a great job!

This is a great site! Just recommended by Greg Danziger! I caught Cameron McGill and What Army at the JBTV studios yesterday. Fantastic! Check them out! Flogging Molly tonight at the Congress, then Warpaint at Lincoln Hall in 2 weeks! March is gonna be a good month.

Thanks for being here for this community. All of these artists deserve the notoriety you give them, and I’m glad there’s someone out there who will do it. Let me know what you think of my latest release.

Chris April 11, 2011 at 6:25 pm

Hey-O!

A friend turned me on to your site a five or so years ago. I thought it was good then, but as way leads to way, I fell out of the habit of visiting. Its been at least a year since I checked in and you’ve still got it rockin’ strong without selling out.

I just wanted to say ‘nice work’… I like the way you’ve kept it straight forward, no-frills, and with a minimum of annoying ads. More importantly, ya’ still never fail to turn me on to something good that I’d likely not have found otherwise ~ Which is a big plus for an ol’ dog like me.

Unlike the most of the internet, Hear*ya is one of few places on the net that actually performs a practical and useful function in my everyday life ~ So, thank you for that!

Just enquiring as to email/postal address for review material please?

Martyn May 18, 2011 at 9:34 pm

Read your posts about Deep Dark Woods & The Sheepdogs. As an old Saskatoon boy now living in Wisconsin you made me proud and homesick.

Jason Gaffner September 4, 2011 at 10:21 pm

Hey Guys

I would like to submit my music for a write up or a simple MP3 post, what is the best way for me to do that? I don’t want to send you guys an email to the wrong place and make you have to read more stuff (as I’m sure you already read a ton)

Thanks and hope all is well

Hello! I’m in a Chicago band called The Cell Phones. We just finished our Halloween music video (featuring a song from our 30-minute haunted house soundtrack). We want to get this video on as many sites as humanly possible! If you need a good video to get your readers into the Halloweeny mood, this is it, guys!

Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PM8lbEYIm4

And our bandcamp site (where you can find our music) http://cellphonesband.bandcamp.com

Hey there, I didn’t see anything about music submissions so I’m sending you a link with this message. Love the bands and the music and would like to be included, basically. Our EP “Second Life” is very close to being released, and here’s a link to my favorite song off of the EP; “Past The Edge” – http://dl.dropbox.com/u/51105419/02%20Past%20The%20Edge.mp3

We’d be willing to offer a free song download from: http://www.soundcloud.com/TripEffect
We really hope you decide to take the three minutes to give us a listen, and more, we hope you like it. It’s sites like yours that give independent musicians a chance to be heard. We’d love to do a live gig or whatever works for you guys (interviews, reviews, etc.), it’s awesome how many contributors you guys have. We play all over Chicago. Thanks a lot for you time, it’s much appreciated. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your job easier.

Like all posters here, I appreciate & enjoy what you do for all Indie musicians. I also admire how the site has proven itself a powerhouse in the Indie scene.

Also like all posters I’d enjoy a lil exposure from the site. Ha. Of Course we all would. You do great stuff & we all know it! With that said We, Kalance Theory would appreciate anytime spent checking out our music. We’ve been getting a decent amount of Indie radio play, even chosen as on of New Driven’s Top Torqued act s of 2012 & have a song that was chosen for an Indie film Soundtrack being shot in LA currently.

This is our 1st release as a band, so we’ve been pleased with the reaction, even before it releases in a couple weeks. To hear the EP I’m Ok check out http://www.ryankeeton.com. We’re even going to offer this free to a group of fans! We just want to be heard.

Thanks again for all this site is & continues to grow to be!

You guys are absolutely killin’ it. I’ve been looking for a site like this for a while. Much appreciation.

Please take a look at the trailer for the documentary “A Beautiful Experience” on the record-breaking band Flaming Lips.
‘A Beautiful Fucking Experience,’ is a feature length documentary that celebrates music, in particular the live music experience, as told through the journey of The Flaming Lips on their Guinness world record breaking 24 hour tour through the Mississippi Delta.

Nick Yanez April 4, 2013 at 11:52 pm

Greetings!

My name is Nick. I am one half of an Indie Duo named ‘Get Along’.

We are a band based out of Denver, CO. We are embarking on our third tour of the Midwest (in the last year) this June. We are thrilled to be playing in Chicago for the first time!

I am looking into music blogs, publications, and radio in the area to try and promote our show on June 12th at Ace Bar.

Our sound is a unique, versatile, chaotic one; energetic and fit for a quartet. We just released our ‘WE TRIED SO HARD TO BE SO COOL EP’ in March of this year. You can listen to that EP at this link – http://www.getalongmusic.bandcamp.com/.

We really hope you enjoy our music. If so, we’d love a mention, write-up, listing, or anything at all that could help in creating some buzz for our June 12th show.

Thank you so much, either way we love what you do for music!

-Nick

Zach Walsh May 5, 2013 at 6:09 pm

Hey Guys,
I’m a fellow Chicagoan. Just saw a band called The Lonely Wild at Schubas on Friday night and they were amazing. I think others would really dig the western/indie sound they have.

They just release a debut album called The Sun as it Comes. Please take the time and give the album a listen.

Thanks!

Opal June 6, 2013 at 1:24 am

Thanks for plugging us in to some great indie music.

Wondering if you could help me find a song I heard a few months ago. Can’t remember the artist, title, or lyrics. But it had a slow tempo, piano, and there were 2 versions of the music video. One of them started with a couple driving in a car, they get to a cabin, apparently they had lost a child, the man rebuffs the woman but eventually gives into her and they make love on a pebbled beach. Afterward, the woman comes across a family in a nearby cabin and she and her partner embrace, somewhat remiss, by a bonfire.

Sorry, that’s all I can remember. But you’d be the awesome all-knowing indie music guru if you could help me find it. Thanks!

I would like to introduce you to Dublin’s Raglans.

Hey dudes!

I really dig HearYa and wanted to see if you guys were able to give my band’s debut album a spin and, if you liked it, would feature us on your website. We’re from Seattle and our name is Supply and the Man. The album is called Lady Salamander. It’s a pretty eclectic, quirky album filled with strong melodies and dynamic slanted indie- esque sounds. It’s starting to get some airplay around the country in some college/non-com stations.

Anyways, we’d love to increase our exposure so that we can tour and record music in the future. Any help you could give us would make us truly grateful. Thanks for your time!

Art Wettle August 22, 2014 at 7:00 pm

Hello.

I’d like to introduce my band which has a new EP. The So-Called Fake Country All-Stars are northerners, bred on rock, but with a deep affinity for classic country. We aim for the sound, style and un-ironic attitude of late 60s and early 70s AM country records. Yes we are utterly unknown bedroom songwriters but I feel confident the songs we write stand up with anyone’s and it doesn’t hurt that we have a fantastic producer in Scott Hunt twistin’ knobs.

This is a vinyl-only release but for one “single”. We are major technophobes and resent deeply the need to seemingly be a marketing major (or at least under 40) in order to get anyone to listen to yer record. Still we are trying, oldsters that we are. Please let us know if you have a physical address so we can send you a hard copy of the vinyl. Otherwise check out the “single” below.

Hope you enjoy and sincere thanks.
Art Wettle,
