Ian Ferguson releases single – State of Gold

by Woody on November 1, 2018

Ian Ferguson is set to release his debut single tomorrow. Formerly of Kingston Springs, Ferguson’s debut track is trippy version of power-pop and is a real nice. He’s running around the country right now with Ron Gallo, so get there early and catch his set. Here’s a little info on the video and Ian’s recording process from is PR team.

Shot on the road from Nashville to LA – it is the perfect psychedelic visual for Ferguson’s modern take on 70s era power pop – packed full of taut multi tracked vocal harmonies and fuzzed out melodic guitars, delivered with Rock N Roll swagger. Ferguson fans include Cage The Elephant and fellow Nashville residents Rayland Baxter and Ron Gallo who Ian open for on all dates of his forthcoming US and Canadian tour – see full dates below.

Discussing the recording process Ferguson stated, “I lived in my basement for many hours and stacked all of these parts one by one. Starting with the drums, I then added bass and the acoustic guitar. There was definitely some inspiration from Neil Young for the low-tuned acoustic. It was tuned a whole two and a half steps down, which gives it a very full sound. The electric guitar was then recorded through an amp with a busted speaker, giving it a thin and dirty tone. After recording some piano (which is barely audible), I went on to record the vocals. Many falsetto harmonies later, I sat down at my computer and mixed it… I’m so happy with how it turned out”
