The Pines announce Above The Prairie 2/5/16

by Woody on January 12, 2016

The Pines are a band best enjoyed in a log cabin drinking a cup of something warm while sitting around a toasty fire. Above The Prairie will be the fifth album for the Minneapolis folk trio. As true to their earlier work, the lead track, Aerial Ocean, is blessed with wonderful playing while never really moving out of low gear. Here’s some info their PR team.

‘Above The Prairie,’ is their most ambitious record to date, coming off as something of an Eno of the Great Plains crossed with the hushed intimacy of Justin Vernon. The record includes collaborations with Greg Brown, Iris DeMent, Pieta Brown and Bo Ramsey (whose sons Benson and Alex make up two-thirds of The Pines) – as well as a spoken word collaboration with the late American Indian activist and poet John Trudell.
