J. Roddy Walston and The Business, Live Session #119

We hosted J. Roddy Walston and The Business for a second HearYa session the morning after their show at the Double Door this past September.  (See their first go round here.)  To my surprise, when the studio doorbell rang, I found only Rod standing on at my door.  “Where’s The Business?”  Turns out they were held up at the hotel they stayed at the night before, trying to reconcile some obscene overnight parking fee.  Finding a secure overnight parking spot for a van with trailer in Chicago can prove to be difficult.  On the positive side, it gave myself and a few StubHub guests the chance to hang with Rod for an hour or so and talk shop. When the band finally arrived, I could tell that they had lost their battle with the hotel parking garage gatekeeper.  Smiles were hard to find for a little bit.  However, after the band got warmed up and worked off that morning’s frustration, they delivered the energy that I’ve come to expect from J. Roddy Walston and The Business.  Songs like “Take It As It Comes” and “Marigold” were standouts for me.  After hearing “Boys Can Never Tell”, I was inspired to learn what this song was all about and a visit to the bands’ site answered my questions.  Enjoy the session and check these guys out on tour.  They have a few dates left in December and I’m sure many more in early 2014.
