Futurebirds, Live Session #116

On the road supporting their sophomore release Baba Yaga, Futurebirds paid us a return visit for a Live Session in May.  You might remember their first session which features the only slow motion couch jump ever captured in HearYa history.  Once again they rolled in full smile and ready to rock.  For some reason this live version of “Tan Lines” has become one of my regular listens when I head back to the studio for evening sessions this summer.  Something about the warm wind ripping through the car windows, the orange sunset glaring off the Chicago skyline, the tempo of the song and that drippy pedal steel.  It just puts me in the right place.  The highlight of the session however, is “Death Awaits”.  While somewhat of a slow burner, this performance delivers a solid jam with full on headbanging from Daniel.  Enjoy this session in the car with windows down or in the back yard with hot dogs and cold beer.
