I actually found out about Shakey Graves and Wild Child at the same time. It was a week before SXSW and I was in Austin for business. I had a big night the night before and I was hungover on the pot at the Omni. There beside me was a magazine spotlighting SXSW. In that magazine were two local acts that really stuck out – Shakey Graves & Wild Child. I was lucky enough to catch both acts during SXSW. Now you’ll be lucky enough to catch them together as they are heading on tour together.

Shakey Graves is Alejandro Rose-Garcia; an Austin troubadour. He plays as a mon show with a kick drum to keep the beat. In the overcrowded arena of folk music, you must be a real special talent to stand out. Shakey plays a blouesy folk that makes you stand up and take notice. When I asked friend of HearYa, SafariMan about him – he enthusiastically responded that he had seen him multiple times and was infatuated. After spinning his album, Roll The Bones, countless times and seeing him Austin, I can see why.

Wild Child began with Kelsey Wilson and Alexander Beggins writing love songs on a ukelele while on tour. They have subsequently fleshed out the band into a six piece and they write infectious folk-pop tunes. Their 2011 album Pillow Talk is a real treat. I had the pleasure of catching them at my favorite SXSW venue, Homeslice Pizza.
