Futurebirds – Virginia Slims [new mp3]

by Woody on February 19, 2013

HearYa Live Session alums Futurebirds have a brand new album coming out on Fat Possum. It will see the light of day on 4/16. In the meantime, they have graced us with the lead single “Virginia Slims.” Their PR piece had this to say,

Futurebirds are a six-headed beast, with each member contributing something distinctive to their sound. Together they have crafted a style that is simultaneously familiar yet fresh. Whether it is the spacey folk of the opener, “Virginia Slims”, the driving rhythm of “Serial Bowls” the hauntingly melodic “Death Awaits” or the epic “St. Summercamp”, there is no doubt that Futurebirds have cemented their identity on Baba Yaga.

Futurebirds recently released Exhume, a free 10-song collection of tracks from previous albums, as well as a few extras. Download Exhume for free at: http://www.noisetrade.com/futurebirds.

To help you deal with the waiting, check out our HearYa session. We felt kind of band confining them to such a small space so Shirk went out bought a bigger studio. To my knowledge Ski Chalet still contains the only couch jump in HearYa history. Full session can be downloaded for free here.

This band is so bad ass. Like the love child of Flannery O’Connor and Ronnie Van Zant. Can’t wait for the new release!
