Mount Moriah – Younger Days [mp3]. Miracle Temple out 2/26/13

by Woody on December 11, 2012

Back in 2011, HearYa became smitten with Mount Moriah. Later that year, they graced HearYa World Headquarters with a memorable session. As we enter 2013, they are getting to release their follow up to that amazing debut on the legendary Merge Records. It will be called Miracle Temple and will be released on Feb 26.

Per the PR department at Merge, here’s the scoop.

Fiercely contemporary yet rich with classic influences, Mount Moriah’s Miracle Temple sports bigger arrangements, louder guitars, bolder vocals, and more soulful rhythms than their acclaimed self-titled debut. Through their artful personal storytelling, the band develops a piercing portrait of a “New South” where progressive traditions are still fitfully breaking free from conservative ones. Mount Moriah’s cathartic vision for their home and themselves is writ large in their lovingly critical negotiation with romantic, political, and gender identities; geographical perspective; confrontation and forgiveness.

Here is a taste of what you can expect with the first single, Younger Days. The video below is for an unreleased track called Swannanoa. No word yet if it is on the album. Update – its on there and its fantastic.
