Strand of Oaks shares Trap Door. Dark Shores out tomorrow!

by oz on July 23, 2012

In keeping with the purity of truly independent music, Timothy Showalter, aka Strand of Oaks, is self-releasing Dark Shores tomorrow without the benefit of a label and the accompanying promotional budgets. We featured the first single entitled “Maureen’s” a month ago and we now have “Trap Door” available to stream below. He’s touring with The Tallest Man on Earth into September.

If you’re a fan, rally up, buy the album and recommend Strand of Oaks to friends. Dive into one or both of our live sessions for more of the music, including truly amazing covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “Used Cars” and Damien Jurado’s “Ohio.”

Timothy Showalter is an amazing person. I am so glad that you shared this song, because it made my day! Even though his music is anxiety filled and desolate it fills me with hope. Now that his life has become more stable I feel that his music has grown and matured. Instead of his songs being full of sadness of what happened they are full of anxiety of it all falling apart. I think we can all relate to that feeling. Wow, I just really love the sound and feel of this song. “Give it all away again. Give a little bit back to me”, that really speaks to me. You give all you’ve got away and you are just hoping they will give a little bit back. I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!
