First Aid Kit unveil The Lion’s Roar [Dear god, you must listen to this]

by oz on October 13, 2011

Swedish sibling folk rock act, First Aid Kit, are releasing their second album entitled The Lion’s Roar on January 24th, 2012. I fell in love with their debut, The Big Black and The Blue, and was blown away by their vocals in our live session. Keep this between us, but I was secretly very nervous that they’d start heading in a more commercial direction to cater to the mainstream. Sometimes happens when attractive young musicians with great voices enter the music scene.

I’m pleased to report that the title track from the new LP is a stunner. My jaw hit the floor when I first played it and it’s played ten times since. “Lion’s Roar” is like a sexy Townes Van Zandt tune – heartbreaking and devastatingly beautiful. If they are writing songs like this at the age of 18 and 20, then we have lots to look forward to. Give it a spin and report back.

I’m gonna guess this is coming out in 2012, not 2010.

You are correct. Updated the typo.

Isn’t this their third album? Before The Big Black and The Blue they released Drunken Trees! That album is too magical to be left out.
