There are only 3 certainties in this world: death, taxes, and The Love Language rocking the shit out of HearYa Live Sessions. We felt honored to have them back for a second time a few weeks ago, and just like their seminal/iconic first session, they did not disappoint (by the by, do we hate the word seminal worse than moist?). It was great to have them back in Chicago, and it was fun to see newer band members BJ Burton and Nick Sanborn poking around the Shirk Music + Sound studio like kids in a candy store.
We caught up with Stuart, Jordan, Missy, BJ, and Nick over some delicious Bud Lights before they stepped into the studio to lay down 3 full-band songs. They rocked like it aint nobodys business but mine and my babys, and I swear they sound even better every time I see them. Stu decided to finish things off with an absolutely killer solo acoustic version of “Brittanys Back.”
Before they headed off to Schubas for their show with Telekinesis, they told some phenomenal road stories, talked about their recent stalking of Barenaked Ladies, and discussed the merits of stonewashed jeans. If youre on Twitter, theyre a great follow. And for my money, you wont find a cooler band out there. Or a more talented one.
You can catch The Love Language at Coachella this weekend and then opening for Arcade Fire in Santa Fe, NM on 4/18. There will be some people in that crowd. Check out their site for more tour dates.
Enjoy the Szechuan.
