Jason Isbell’s Codeine [new mp3, SxSW 2011]

by oz on March 14, 2011

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit are set to release Here We Rest on April 12th via Lighting Rod Records. I’ve had an advanced copy for months and it’s Isbell’s best solo effort to date. He and the band have offered up a first single entitled “Codeine,” available for download below. If you dig it, then get ready. There are far better tracks on the album.

Catch ’em at SxSW on Wednesday here.

You going to be at this show? It’s my number one target for Wednesday with Hayes and Jason and also want to see the Civil Wars! Any other targets I should have for this week on what you know? Hoping to get in to the Josh Ritter showcase.

Yes, I plan to be there. The Romany Rye will kill it too.

Woody has been taking care of most of our planning. I know we’ll be spending quite a bit of time at Home Slice and South by San Jose. Hopefully we’ll have a schedule to post before we head out.

Very cool new sound. The violin’s a nice touch. Isbell and Justin Townes Earle was on of my favorite shows. It was cool to see Jason play live on Letterman with Justin. Hopefully they’ll tour together again, and soon.
