July Shows We Recommend in Chicago & Atlanta

by That Guy on July 1, 2010

Well, Taste of Chicago is going full throttle at the beginning of July, and I’m still waiting for someone to tell me something other than how horrible it is. I’ve probably talked to 100 people about Taste of Chicago during my time here, and not one person has good things to say about it. Yet somehow it draws over 3 million people annually. You figure it out. It’s kind of like those survey results you see on the news. They always manage to survey tens of thousands of people, yet somehow I’ve never talked to anyone who has been surveyed. You’d think after 30 years on this earth and seeing thousands of survey results, I or someone I know would have been surveyed by now. They must be surveying the same people who love Taste of Chicago.

I always avoided Taste of Chicago when I lived there because I’d been to other festivals where it was so crowded I couldn’t move in any direction and someone would say “it’s still better than Taste of Chicago.”

If you like rubbing up against sweaty humans with no ability to move, then I’m sure it’s a great event. I always preferred a half-empty beer garden, buckets of beer, and bocce ball. I miss Cody’s Public House.

All you in Atlanta have to check out Delta Spirit. Caught them at Music Hall of Williamsburg last night and they were on fire!

taste of chicago=nightmare…add in the three stabbings that occurred the other night (all 3 on Thursday night I heard) and you have yourself a scary adventure. Have yet to check the news to see what happened this past weekend.
