Josh Ritter’s encore invitation to Joe Pug [Live Video]

by oz on May 20, 2010

We mentioned Josh Ritter’s classy move this past Saturday at his show at The Vic in Chicago.‚  Josh invited Chicago’s folk pride and joy, Joe Pug, on stage during his encore to perform “Speak Plainly, Diana,” the closer from Joe Pug’s latest album, Messenger.

One of yesterday’s readers, Mandy, posted a comment with a link to a video that was sent out in Joe’s newsletter with his quote: “Sharing a stage with him was, personally, momentous.”

HearYa had set up shop in the balcony that night and Shirk captured a video of the same song. You can see it here.

I love Ritter’s reaction towards the end of the song. He is literally beaming as Joe finishes it up.

Joe rocks with a full band. I hope he starts to incorporate some more of that into his repertoire.

Nice video Shirk.

Ritter and his band are a class act. This was probably the best gig I’ve ever been a part of. From sound check to the after party it was such a good time.

Joe Pug & Josh Ritter are both rad. Joe played a festival we had in Josh’s old stomping grounds and it was a smash hit. I’m glad to see they had a chance to play together.

Joe seems like a great guy that really enjoys doing what he does. Hope he makes it over to Germany some day.
