There is a great piece in the NY Times about Les Paul, so I won’t add much commentary. The man pretty much invented the solid body electric guitar and the 4 track recorder, tools that changed the course of music history. I’m going to just listen to a shitload of music today and thank Les Paul for his influence.

i was fortunate enough to catch his weekly gig at Iridium a few years ago. Even at that late stage of his life, that sumbitch still could play w/ the best of ‘em. We’ve lost a genius.
