This month reminds me of the late great Billy Mays because the word “August” sounds so much like “Awesome Auger.” August also signifies the beginning/end of summer in Chicago all in the same month, so it’s even more important you get out and enjoy the rock show this month while the weather is good. Enter Lollapalooza. It will be extra special this year, with Oz making the journey in from California to join Shirk, Woody, myself and loyal HearYa reader/Tom Cruise body-double ViaChicago for the festivities. We have live sessions scheduled with Henry Clay People and The Low Anthem that very weekend at Shirk Music & Sound, and of course Lollapalooza during the day. If your life isn’t quite this awesome-auger, there’s still plenty more to see this month around town.

The only “problem” with Modest Mouse is you never know which Brock you’re going to get–so it’s either an excellent show or a lackluster one.
i assume you have your tickets already to see Dan.
The Garden Weasel is way better than the Awesome Auger….just a thought.
I saw the Decemberists/Hearless Bastards last night in Toronto at the Kool Haus and I have to say the show was incredible! Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark and My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden were on hand to deliver incredible lead vocals. Their stage presence was amazing.
Heartless Bastards also did very well – I think it was the first show on the tour.
It blows my mind that Modest Mouse isn’t making it out to New York to tour for the new album. I guess I may have to make it out to Chicago instead.
Ahhhh! *(&^@#!
I leave town for a couple weeks for some R&R and come back to find all these shows I wanted to catch are sold to mofo OUT.
Well, at least I can say TGIF.
Enjoy the great music to be had this weekend
