Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears at Slims, San Francisco [Concert Pics]

Black Joe Lewis

Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears opened for Lucero on Saturday night at Slims in San Francisco. The joint was packed and he and the Honeybears tore the house down with their James Brown inspired soul and blues sound. There was an abundance of bad dancing in the crowd and I saw the white man’s overbite on several occasions.

HearYa is not known for taking decent concert pics, but I have a new camera and am starting to figure out how to use it without a flash.

The Lucero images will follow shortly.

Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears is one of my favorite up and coming bands on the scene today. Their raw groove and garage soul make this band and their front man a welcomed addition to the the soul revival happening today. With deep grove songs like “Big Booty Woman” to fast paced ass shakers like “Boogie” , this band has got me hooked and hungry for more.

Great pic’s OZ!

How much fun are these guys live? Sorry I missed this one. Will I see you at King Khan next week, Oz?

Nope. The wife is heading out of town, so I’ll be rolling single dad style.
