Iron and Wine are readying a compilation album called Around The Well for release on May 19th via Sub Pop Records. They’ve offered up a 9 minute plus doozy called “Trapeze Swinger” for free download. More about the album:
Collecting songs ranging from out-of-print to never-before-released, Around the Well spans Iron and Wine’s earliest sessions which yielded the band’s debut (2002’s The Creek Drank the Cradle) through material recorded for 2007’s The Shepherd’s Dog. The double-disc Around the Well collection is broken up into two sections. The first half is an assortment of hushed home recordings, unedited and raw, and the second highlights moments captured in the confines of proper studios with the help of other musicians, friends and engineers.

This song is good, but not new. It was on the soundtrack of a crappy movie that came out three or four years ago. I think it was called “In Good Company.,” but I never saw it. Great song though.
The album is all b-sides and rarities, so I don’t think there’s any new material.I’m looking forward to hearing the unedited tracks on the album.
Great, so now I&W decides to release this…for free! Back in ‘04 I shelled out $16 for the soundtrack (on CD mind you) of the Topher Grace classic ‘In Good Company’…just to get this 9 minute gem. But, it was worth it—I still love this song and it being free makes it that much better…it’s not unlike the time I was standing in line at Sam Goody debating whether or not I should use my $2 bill to pay for the single (on cassette) for ‘I Can’t Dance’ by Genesis. I spent that $2 bill that my Grandfather gave me, and I don’t regret it.
whoa, becoff. ..crappy movie? You obviously never saw it (as you stated)…but even if you hadn’t said you never saw it…I’d know, b/c if you had, you’d know that it’s awesome….so….awesome.
