Local Natives, another must see band at SXSW 2009

by Woody on March 14, 2009

The HearYa inbox is working overdrive and we can barely keep up. The flood of SxSW info has gotten to the point that Oz and I have more or less given up and are ready to just get to Austin and blow off steam.

There was one email from Taylor of Local Natives that was almost overlooked, but something in my pea-sized brain recalled liking this band. I sampled a few tracks and have just added a late addition to my SxSW must see list. The Orange County band bangs out some sweet three part harmonies over lush instrumentation and the music just puts a smile on your face. Much like another of my must-see bands, Vetiver, it’s sunny day music.

Here’s also a cover of the boys playing Simon and Garfunkel’s “Cecilia.”
