U2’s new album available for $3.99. Is it worth it?

U2’s new album was released on Amazon’s MP3 service today and it’s priced at an incredibly low $3.99.  Is it worth $4 bucks? I’ll leave that up to you. I’m still digesting it.

Head on over and pick it up.

IMHO it is not. They should just give it away with tickets to their upcoming concerts a la Prince.

I’ve sat with the album for a day. There are a few tracks that catch my ear…but nothing floors me. I’m hoping (because I’m a longtime U2 fan), that this one grows on me. But as of today, I’m not in love with it.

As I stood in check out line at the CVS this morning, I noticed a Rolling Stone cover that read “U2’s Five Star Masterpiece”. It kind of made me laugh because, in my mind, a “Masterpiece” it is not. I’ll give this one a few weeks to ferment. Perhaps then, I’ll really get it.

I will say that it is getting better. The slower tracks have something to offer, but the album is forgettable…just like their last one. It’ll sit on the shelves in my CPU.

U2, Bruce and Dylan always get 5 Stars. They could fart into a mic and get 4 stars.
