The Thermals

The Thermals have a long, long anticipated new album out in April called Now We Can See. The title track was just released yesterday and it’s a tasty appetizer. I’m about to Incredible Hulk my shirt off in the office and tear apart my cubicle with my bare hands.

I must see this band in person.

Hmmm. I thought they were touring in the UK during sxsw. I’ll check.

i’ve seen ‘em twice, the first time opening for Sleater-Kinney before they got “big”on SubPop, back when their sound was way fuzzed out.

Good times, good times.

Oh yeah, the bassist Kathy Foster –freaking cute.

The singer/guitarist Hutch Harris needs a beard, though.

First or second time better?
With a name like Hutch Harris, sounds like he needs a badge too.
COOL

i’ve got to say, i personally like their early stuff 100 times better. It’s much rougher, much less refined, but i thought the songs were tighter and more “fun.”

Their eponymous first (i believe) EP, “The Thermals,” still remains their high water mark for me. “Everything Thermals” is, hands down, my fave track by them. The follow-up LP, “More Parts Per Million,” comes in a close second.

Thanks, oddbodkins!
i’ll have to check out their early tunes. Hopefully I’ll get to see them at SXSW.
