We had a blast blogging in 2008 and appreciate y’all reading and commenting, but I’d love to get some more feedback. What’s working? What’s not? What could we do to be more interesting?

Feel free to just comment or shoot me an email (oz@hearya.com) if that’s easier.

Just keep introducing me to new bands and I’ll be happy. I have hear*ya to thank for Langhorne Slim, Moondoggies and the Avett Bros. and a few more that I’m forgetting.

I also like that you guys don’t try to flood us with posts, I appreciate quality over quantity.

That’s funny, because i don’t think one can ever have too much new content. You cats have proven you can write and always turn up great music, so the more, the merrier, i say.

Far more importantly, though, you really should feature more beards. i’m just saying.

this may seem annoying but i’d be interested in hearing what shows you guys are hitting… or maybe, what shows you recommend?
otherwise-why fix somethin’ that ain’t broke, ya know?

Shows are a good idea. The surveys are saying more interviews and more concert coverage…and of course more live sessions.

I’ve heard from several readers in the surveys and offline that the amount of music we post is somewhat overwhelming and they’d like to know which albums we highly endorse. I’ll set up a page that will serve as a running tally of the best albums of 2009 “so far”.

Thanks for the comments and surveys. They’re still rolling in (and results are all over the map).

YEAH-more live sessions definitely never hurt anyone!
i tend to disagree with an “overwhelming” amount of music posted here b/c you don’t just post random mp3′s for download, or something similar like that, but rather, you describe the music you are posting (and the past related posts) and post at times a reasonable assortment of the artist’s tunes to get a better taste of what type of music. personally, i think it’s laziness on peoples’ parts if they only want to know the ‘best’ of … :P

I think it’s a good idea to list the shows that we intend to hit. For me, I’m eagerly looking forward to Frightened Rabbit on 1/24 at Empty Bottle, Blitzen Trapper also at Empty Bottle on 2/19 and Plants & Animals at Schubas on 3/27. Also, Steve Earle is playing 2 shows at Old Town in early April. All, of course, are Chicago venues.
