Grammy Nominations Concert – Here’s What You Missed.

by That Guy on December 3, 2008

I’m pretty sure this was the first time the Grammy Nominations have ever been shown in prime time and I thought it would be interesting to zone in and out over the course of the hour long show. Here’s what you missed:

  1. Celine Dion stole Mariah Carey’s hair. “I am Canadian! I am a diva!”
  2. Apparently the sideboob is making a strong charge as a fad. The audience was chock-full and I, for one, am pleased by this development
  3. Speaking of sideboobs, were my lady-friend and I the only ones who thought Christina Aguilera’s topboob was going to ease its way out of that dress?
  4. You cannot possibly write a hit rap song unless Timbaland or T.I. is somehow involved
  5. The appeal of Taylor Swift is inexplicable. Last night was the first time I’d ever seen her. She reminds me of the type of girl your friend sets you up with on a blind date and describes her as “Tall and blond with a tight body.” You get really excited, only to show up and realize that description meant she’s skinny, pale, has flesh-colored hair, and still practices kissing boys on her hand.
  6. The gay Jonas Brother (the oldest one) made a sincere effort to make it appear as though he was actually interested in the music rather than checking out the male artists (PS – I don’t know if he’s gay or not, but I’ve got him in my “Which Jonas Brother will come out of the closet in the next 2 years” office pool).
  7. I particularly enjoyed John Mayer’s performance with B.B. King – I really did. But (a) he changes up his hair game more than Mariah Carey changes outfits on Cribs, (b) he had his first public “I’m starting to act like Justin Timberlake” moment when he awkwardly praised B.B. King after their performance, and (c) I guarantee you he did not tie that euro scarf-tie by himself.

That is great news. They just did a session on WOXY Lounge Acts recently also.

But don’t change the subject. Drinking Buddy just said “flesh-colored hair.”
