These United States – Crimes

by oz on November 11, 2008

The election is over, we just posted some Sam Cooke covers, the image above is from November 5th in Chicago, and there’s a buzz in these here United States. There’s also been a buzz about These United States, the band out of Lexington, KY and their September 2008 release, Crimes.

I’ve been listening to the album for the past week. Listening to Crimes is like meandering along the bourbon trail in the Bluegrass hills of their native Kentucky. You’ll taste some mainstream flavors, but you’ll also get lost along the way and sip on some home-distilled shit in some backwoods cabin. While not comprised of corn, wheat and malted barley, These United States’ is an all American blend of country, folk, and rock and roll.

Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Makers Mark? Take your pick. They’ll all go down a bit smoother with These United States.
