Advertising run amuck.

If you haven’t noticed, we’ve stayed quiet about politics on HearYa. I don’t care who you vote for or what your race or gender is. We’re all here because we listen to the same type of music, therefore we can carry a conversation.

When I voted, there was one proposition on California’s ballot that I felt strongly about - Proposition 8. Prop 8 would amend California’s constitution and eliminate the right for same sex couples to marry. In my opinion, this proposition is discriminatory and hateful.

Unfortunately, we don’t have complete control over the ads that are served on HearYa and the banner above was displayed several times yesterday to “Vote Yes on Prop 8.” I pulled down the advertising code as soon as I saw it, but who knows how long it was running.

I’m sure you’ve seen similar ads on other sites, but I want to clear the air. I did not place this ad intentionally and would never endorse a measure that denies a fundamental right to another human being.
