I feel bad that anyone, as seemingly intelligent as the guy who wrote that letter, would waste his time disagreeing with a reviewer. I mean reviewers have a purpose etc... But these guys write about music because they can't make it themselves. When they trash it, they are trashing their own forgotten four-track tapes they thought were genius but were turned down by Barsuk. When pitchfork accepted their writing, it was like getting signed to Matador in 95'. Let him have his moment of Bardo Pond fame while you guys make Crooked Rain'.

Ian Cohen's review is hilarious and spot on. Bands like TATE are obnoxious in their attempt to borrow indie trends and present them as their own.

Critics.... Who ever came up with that idea?? What makes one critic's views more relevant than anothers..

I for one say ~ Be your own critic..... Make your own mind up.... I can't tell you how many times I've read a critique and have totally disagreed... Save the time... go straight and listen, or watch, or experience the art for yourself...

The Airborne Toxic Event is a wonderful band full of really talented people... They put on a great live show and there acoustic work is Fantastic!!

There is a responsible way to give negative feedback.. This Ian Cohen obviously has an axe to grind.... Wow... he really does drink his own bathwater...

I think it's fine to criticize music, but it's the personal digs that are questionable.

For anyone curious, here's the video from when we had TATE on Rehearsal Space earlier this summer:

I think it is bullshit. Why spend the time to trash a band when there is so much amazing music out there that could use positive press. It is a waste of breath and effort on their part.
