The Avett Brothers have a six song EP entitled The Second Gleam releasing tomorrow. Emotionalism was one of my favorite albums in 2007 and their latest track “Murder in the City” shows that Scott and Seth Avett have more in their bag of tricks.
The Second Gleam is reportedly only releasing on CD and vinyl, so you may need to make a trip to your local record store to pick it up. If you’re a fan of twang, I’d also highly recommend purchasing Emotionalism. It may take a few listens to grow on you, but it’s well worth the effort. It’s a mighty fine album.

Great tip. Been a big fan of the bros for some time now. Their vocals are like lullabies
Yes, very lullaby-ish. Although “Die Die Die” leads off the Emotionalism album. I might not play that one for my baby at bedtime. “Murder in the City,” however, is already playing at nap time.
One of my favorite AB tunes is Pretty Girl from Chile. Blew me away the first time I heard it. Also, I wouldn’t play that one for the young ones if they are sleeping.
Wow - I love this song. Great recommendation.
Another winner from the fine folks at HearYa. Love, love, love this EP. Thanks for the tip, and keep up the great work.
