The NCAA National Championship has always been my favorite sporting event. The magic of March Madness trumps all others, including the World Series, Super Bowl, and WrestleMania.

At the end of each tourney, I always look forward to the “One Shining Moment” montage, penned by David Bennett and performed by Luther Vandross. It’s extra-special this year after watching KU’s dramatic comeback and Mario Chalmers’ game-tying 3-pointer. The best NCAA Championship I’ve ever seen.

It’s super-cheesy, but what do you expect from a song inspired by the NCAA tourney?

Oh the tears, the joy, the drama, Paula Abdul was even there.

I was a complete idiot on Monday night, I totally forgot the damn finals were on and I let my wife commandeer the remote so she could watch “Medium” while I sat by and worked on our taxes. Thanks for sharing this special montage so I too, could share in the joys of the NCAA finals and “One Shining Moment”. Luther sings his ass off on that one. May you rest in peace, LV.
