We were lucky to get our hands on this session from the Schubas Amplify series sponsored by our friends at Beer Nuts, WOXY and UR Chicago. This was recorded by HearYa’s own Steve Shirk at Shirk Music and Sound. That’s a lot of sponsors, links and words in general. Here’s the link to the original podcast.
Elliott Brood is yet another great band from our friendly neighbors to the north (that’s Canada you hosers). They bring a bluegrass sound with punk attitude and energy. The boys tour like mad and supposedly have a new record coming out sometime soon. Here’s a smattering of live tracks to tide you over until then. Shirk did a really great job and Elliott Brood sound great.
Oh, and the picture above is not from this session.

Love Elliott Brood, nice to hear they have a new album on the way. Thanks for the live tracks, though there seems to be a problem with “The Bridge.”
thanks for the head’s up. I fixed the bridge.
No, thank you. The tracks sound awesome.
Glad you are digging these tracks, Pop-Kid. The guys in Elliot Brood were a blast to work with. Cool dudes, great musicians. awesome music. I especially love the way Mark and Casey’s voices blend…it’s like hearing a double of the same voice…with a little twist. Stephen, the drummer, lays it down a solid and contributes some good backing vox as well. I’m looking forward to hearing the new album as well.
Thanks to UR Chicago Magazine and Schubas for lining up this session…and to Matt for turning me on to the music that is Elliott Brood. I’m fan!
