Amy Winehouse wins 5 Grammys, could use a fake tooth.

by oz on February 10, 2008

Amy Winehouse

Not too long ago, I talked about how Amy Winehouse resembles a camel. They let her out of rehab just long enough to pull in 5 Grammys.

To celebrate, I decided to post another image of Amy Winehouse that will surely have you dry-heaving. It wouldn’t be that gross if she were merely missing a tooth, but you can actually see the empty crater where her tooth was once rooted into her gums.

Ugh Hughh! Pardon me there. I had some partially digested pizza rise back up into my esophagus.  It’s all good. I swallowed it back down.

It’s not just the tooth crater that’s grossing me out either. Her matted, unwashed hair makes me equally queezy. It looks like she’s starting to grow long, curly sideburns like the orthodox Jews.  And what’s that spot next to her eye?  Did someone try to stab her in the eyeball with a Sharpie and barely miss?

Oh well. Mazel tov, Amy.  Mazel tov and lekhayiim.

I think Simon would have said, ” If I’m being honest, that was the worst audition ever” Maybe I just don’t get her but I didn’t get Bob Dillon either. I think by awarding her a grammy…for that awful song…it just made everyone elses grammy that much less valuable. Apparently, they’ll give one of those things to anyone. What a shame…what ever happened to good music?

2 s 02.11.08 at 1:21 am

how ironic that the whole point is to talk about the music, yet you spent the entire post nitpicking every aspect of her face like your life depends on it. we all know what amy winehouse looks like…that kind of pointless rant is SO old now.

3 Patrick 02.11.08 at 2:28 am

Obviousley her music doesn’t make most people regurgitate pizza chunks. Her face…yeah, but at least the music gurus over at grammy-town aren’t worrying about camel resemblence these days.

4 Vicky 02.11.08 at 3:36 am

Its no wonder the poor girl got herself so screwed up and in such a mess with booze and drugs when nasty bitchy people like you just critisise her appearance and have such an opinion on what she looks like all the time – So what !!!!!! She is a singer for god sake not a supermodel – I think she looks awsome – she is unique and has teeth missing – but so what !!!!!!! She’s amazing and quite clearly you are just jealous – and probably look like the back end of a bus yourself

It’s an old picture – we have all seen it.

I log on to read about music. This is not the first time that Oz writes like he is an insecure frat boy.

Less Oz please. More Woody.

I think we all have to support her even with our posts and comments.
Helping people is something that comes to you back one day!

The fact that Ms. Winehouse is an incredible talent who stomped all over other artists last night at the Grammys surely trumps her disheveled appearance.
When you have drug problems, the first thing to go is your hygeine. I feel for Amy and hope she takes responsibility for herself and continues to get help.
I really believe that her Grammy triumph is a message from the universe telling her to appreciate what has been given; this is a second chance, Amy, don’t screw it up. It would be tragic if she were to disappear when her music is so great. I’m a musician myself and haven’t been this excited about a female artist in years. Good for you, Amy. Please don’t throw it all away.

And many kudos to Herbie Hancock for Album of the Year. Jazz STILL rocks, hahaha!

I come to the site for music insight and entertainment. I think Oz’s post is hilarious and was clearly extreme on purpose. Sorry that the humor was lost on some of you.

9 Michy 02.11.08 at 8:03 am

So what if she has a missing tooth. The girl is talented.

10 Steve Shirk 02.11.08 at 8:43 am

It is refreshing that an artist can win a grammy (or 5) on artistic merit alone. I thought those days were gone and the era of “the whole marketing package” were here to stay. It’s clear that you won’t be seeing Amy pushing cosmetic products or doing many endorsements on TV. And to me…that’s great! That’s why we have Beyonce. She does it all, and quite well. Let Amy do her thing in the studio and on the stage…or at the pub if that’s what she chooses. When an artist comes along and achieves success with her music alone…I think that is a testament to the power of music. The power of good music. It cuts through the crap and makes people take notice.

I’ll admit, I never became a huge H.W. fan. Her album sat in my itunes all summer and never made it onto the iPod. However, when mixing a track and I needed a quick reference to inspire that old school sound with a modern twist…her album was a “Go To”. The vibe on those recordings is rediculous.

Congrats to Amy and her band.

Onto other things Grammy:

The best moment of the night was when Vince Gill delivered that quick, off the cuff stinger to Kanye. No one could have said it better.

11 Kara 02.11.08 at 9:04 am

She did get her tooth fixed
http://perezhilton.com/2008-02-09-taking-care-of-business
use new pics instead of really old ones.

12 SanLam 02.11.08 at 9:46 am

Kudos To Amy -
Yes, I don’t understand her look but hey, beauty comes from within and if her music is a reflection of her spirit inside …she’s quite a beauty! It’s actually refreshing to see someone be recognized for their music and not the “whole Hollywood package” .

Maybe a little understanding and kindness might be the order of the day. she’s got a long road back to recovery and let’s hope that she can use the “pain” to inspire more great music.

And yes, a great big Stetson hats off to Vince Gill….i was getting a little “Kanyed out” with his self-serving ego-maniacal attitude!

Great show though! and what an inspiration Tina is…hope i’m in that great a shape at 50 let alone 68 !! Two legs up to her!!!!
SanLam

Ps to Dassymiss….it’s Bob DYLAN not Dillon……

13 t 02.11.08 at 9:47 am

Loosen up people. She’s become kind of a joke….like Pop’s Britney. It’s a train wreck. Love how it got you all riled up!

14 oz 02.11.08 at 9:53 am

Insecure frat boy. I love it!

15 Jessie 02.11.08 at 2:57 pm

You, my friend, are an idiot. If you knew what you were talking about, Amy went to the dentist on Saturday and got her tooth replaced. I mean, i know it is wierd for us to see a celebrity who is not wrapped up in the Hollywood lifestyle but I think it is refreshing that she doesnt care what anyone thinks of her. She isnt carrying around the latest 5000 oversized bag or 3000 high heels. She is true to her roots. So what is she likes to spend her money on partying. Amy is a talented one-of-a-kind musician and we havent seen anyone like her in a very very long time. All of the Britneys and Christina’s of the world can drown in a pool of hollywood glamour.

16 t 02.11.08 at 3:07 pm

How are all you people so current on Amy’s dentist visits? Take things seriously much? I like Amy Winehouse’s music, but as a person, she’s a mess.

17 Maynardsgirl 02.11.08 at 4:01 pm

You know, my husband hates her, I like her. I love all these comments about her, anything that fosters any dialog that does bring our attention to the ridiculous fact that people are obsessed with all these things but the music. I do think she’s talented, and like the heavy metal of the 80s, which I loved, she is not for everybody. I’m glad, because I’ll always get a cheap ticket to an interesting show.
I really enjoyed the Daft Punk number, despite it being with Kanye. I thought the Mama number was a little too “poor me” for my taste. And I loved the Vince Gill comment as well.
And I could’ve done without all the crappy Beatles junk.
And Tool should have won for the Pot, instead of Food Fighters.
Have a wonderful day and listen to something you never would today. :)

18 Woody 02.11.08 at 6:16 pm

Personally, I don’t like her music. I could care less what she looks like. If I am itching for a retro fix, I’ll reach for Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. As Oz’s partner in crime, I will say two things. 1) This isn’t my favorite post we have ever done and 2) That being said, lighten up. I like Pete Doherty’s music but it certainly doesn’t affect my day when someone takes a swipe at him.

The thing that really strikes me is that we post some stuff on some amazing bands that deserve alot more attention than they get. And yet, we’ll get one comment or two. But this gets, including mine, 18. I just don’t get it.

Anyway, I was happy to see the Glossary post right after it. Great band.

19 Woody 02.11.08 at 6:33 pm

I would also like to take the time out to thank my one and only groupie, Alye. Congratulations you are hereby appointed as the president of Woody fan club.

20 oz 02.11.08 at 8:15 pm

If we can’t ridicule celebrities who can we ridicule?

I knew it was an old picture, but thought I’d try to have some fun after watching another horrible awards show.

Thanks for the tooth knowledge everyone. Keep me posted on any future dental work.

21 Drinking Buddy 02.11.08 at 8:36 pm

I personally think the chatter this post has generated is great. It’s good to see some real dialogue about music-related topics, and even some viewpoints challenged. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so don’t get too upset if you don’t agree with it. After all, 1) this is America, not communist Russia, and 2) HearYa was created to DISCUSS music (hence the name), not just have something crammed down your throat – that’s what the radio is for.

Above all, never take anything on this site too seriously (especially the foolishness I write). It’s supposed to be fun! Hooray!

22 Tom 02.11.08 at 9:12 pm

More sense of humor. Less bitching. How much great music knowledge and insight does this site provide w/ nothing in return? For those that got that worked up about it, let’s see some contribution of your own first. The dentist thing was amazing…you my friend are either reading too much supermarket gossip crap-o-mags or stalking Amy’s every movement. This commentary made my day, the crazy internet collective is alive and well and apparently up all night…long live HearYa! Oz, Woody & DB – keep up the great after work work.

23 kat 02.12.08 at 6:42 am

Tom, you are so right. I love America and the First Amendment. Everyone who made a comment here has a right to make a comment, isn’t that great?

…”The crazy internet collective is alive and well…” too right, my friend!
I’m smiling.

P.S., Natalie Cole needs to chill. She’s the pot calling the kettle black and I got a big kick out of her self-righteous diatribe on how Amy didn’t deserve to win on Grammy night. Ms. Winehouse, despite her problems, is one in a million.

24 SanLam 02.12.08 at 4:41 pm

Re: natalie cole….
Amen to Kat! ….
SanLam from …Canada….oops! am I allowed to voice my opinion here?!

25 oz 02.12.08 at 11:38 pm

Canucks are welcome to voice opinions too. Wait. Can I say Canucks? Is that offensive?

Speaking of dental work, I’ve reflected further on my post and I realized that I’m actually missing the same tooth that Amy is. It was a freak accident in college when someone stole my bagel at 2am. I tried chasing them and landed tooth first on the curb. I’ve since been fitted with a really nice fakie.

See everyone. Amy and I actually are kindred spirits and my post can be characterized as the pot calling the kettle black…except I don’t smoke crack or do heroin or take pills or get my stomach pumped on a regular basis.

26 bailey 08.08.08 at 4:05 am

ahh yes..on the feeble of mind would stop and think of somthing like amissing tooth….

Winehouse is a badass and i think that when either one of us has the insight, creativity, whatever you want to call it..missing tooth or not…to create something really good then i think we wont give a fuck either…

27 milena 08.08.08 at 6:43 am

I like Amy, no, I love her. She managed to get to my heart with her songs.
Yes, she has problems, but this only shows how sensitive and tender she is, and how real life affects her. Wish you luck, Amy!

28 oz 08.08.08 at 7:35 am

Bailey – It looks like we’re in disagreement about her music being “something really good.”

Feeble of mind thinking of something of a missing tooth? She’s an absolute trainwreck and the missing tooth is just a side effect. It serves as a symbol for all things that have run completely amuck.

29 anon 08.19.08 at 8:57 pm

She is an amazing artist. However, she has a severe drug addiction. Hence, this is why her teeth are falling out. That’s what happens when you smoke crack. She reminds me of Janice Joplin. So talented but has an addiction. I really hope she can overcome this, otherwise she will die tragically young.

Happy Halloween!

36 Lynne 11.13.08 at 8:24 am

What I love about some of the comments is that I’d bet none of them were written shortly after looking in a mirror.

37 mike yuen ken paahana 11.17.08 at 11:31 am

My gf jmee thinks she is jus like amy winehouse, she makes her face look like amys, has tats all over like amys, weres the same kine jewelry and earrings like amy, dresses like her copys her eye make up. People think it’s a joke but its not, my gf think she look good copying amy. I want her to stop copying amy coz she looks like a slutz acting like she is amy whinehouse. What kine mother goes around acting all druggy and think she hip. das not cool. I like tell her peoples stay laughing at her all the time bout the way she looks. But she going get all crazy on me. her teeth stay all black frm smoking jus like amys

38 Aubin 12.03.08 at 3:57 pm

This post and all the comments (especially the angry ones) were nothing but funny. Thanks guys for the levity!

39 Disgusted 12.26.08 at 10:28 pm

LOL at this entry. Its all so true. It wasn’t long ago she was attractive and even slightly-chubby cheeked. NOW look at her. Beyond disgusting, she’s not even a human being. Just the bony, drugged-out remains of a former talent.

All of you people defending Amy are probably druggies like her. Why don’t you losers put down the meth pipe and go get jobs? She’s never going to overcome her addiction and will die like the disgusting junkie she is. She had it all and throws it out the window to get high. What a fkn loser.

40 ReBecca 01.01.09 at 4:41 pm

I love Amy Winehouse.
<3

41 crystal 01.06.09 at 6:36 pm

if you look closely, it looks like she is missing another tooth, and that is in fact a side effect of drugs… good thing she got enough money to fix her teeth eh! I like her cause she is funky and crazy, only the fact that she is a HUGE Addict kinda takes away from all that and makes her a big loser. I mean, no one who does crack and heroine is cool or will amount to anything great! So heres to hoping there will be one lest heroine addict on our streets!

42 MMR 01.31.09 at 12:17 am

Envy, she got her voice and there is nothing you can do about it. Amy you are great. I love your music

43 Jordan 01.31.09 at 11:28 am

The true beauty of crack/meth!

44 sam 03.29.09 at 7:23 pm

May we see a picture of yourself for comparison? Just put it up right next Winehouse and we’ll all tell you how ugly you are too

45 Hizzy 04.10.09 at 9:32 am

Unfortunately, celebrities need to realize that people watch them, so they need to act with some dignity. Amy Winehouse may have a good song or two, but that doesn’t make up for her behavior. She acts like an animal! She skips concerts, she takes drugs, and she acts like an immature 17-year-old. She may be a musician, but to listen to her music and ignore her awful behavior in your assessment of her character would be like listening to Hitler but ignoring the fact that he’s killing people. If a regular person acted like her, we’d call them trailor trash. They probably wouldn’t even be able to get a job anywhere because they’d be too sketchy. It’s not fair that she should be cut a break just because she sings music; my 11-year-old sister does that, but she still gets sent to time-out when she misbehaves.

46 Singin 04.26.09 at 4:53 pm

Fuck the dumb shit… Amy is a treasure, not just to the UK but to all of us in the USA. I should be so lucky to have her talant and beauty. Lord loves this girl too!

47 Mr.GreenGenes 07.16.09 at 3:46 pm

It figures that all these embittered cunts love her noise pollution; everyone knows women have THE worst taste in music. Rarely will you find a woman with hlaf-decent to decent taste in music. For the record, she’s a hideous skank.

48 Josh 07.20.09 at 1:18 pm

Anti-semite!

49 iiro 08.13.09 at 1:19 am

i love her tooth, not so polished , personal

52 mo 01.15.10 at 8:09 am

Who gives a shit what she did to her body. Do us all a favor, take your materialistic ignorant mind, and let the wind catch it, and then go ask around on whats its like to LIVE.

All living beings are here to experience life. Just because they choose a path thats considered unfavorable to society doesnt mean they are any less of a being, nor should they be treated less than.

Try opening your mind…..Try and Visualize and put into perspective the reality that has been put in front of you and the masses by the money masters. Once you understand the TRUE REALITY in which we live, only then will you be enlightened and gain Full Consciousness or on your way.

Once you do this. you may understand the meaning of life, understand who you really are, and understand the world you live in.

Remember dont be such a ass face. Start being more aware of the sublimanal, seek knowledge for it is the path to enlightenment.

53 oz 01.15.10 at 1:47 pm

Thanks for the stream of consciousness Buddha mo. Unfortunately the “true reality” that was put in front of me by the “money masters” back in 2008 was the self obsessed, drug addicted, white trash singer that was Winehouse. But let’s put the past behind us.

54 Shirk 01.15.10 at 2:19 pm

I think Josh (post above) meant to write Anti-dentite

55 Coolinuff 01.20.10 at 8:36 am

yeah i like Amy Winehouse- i think shes alright- i like to get high as well-maybe i f i hook up with her we can get high and then press her face in some dough and make animal cookies.Hmmm animal cookies…

56 Madalena 02.03.10 at 6:50 am

You know guys I think you could stop making fun of people and start looking at yourself…whatever you see now in others it might happens to you one day. You can choose to be kind instead of being utterly ignorants! PEOPLE WAKE UP!

57 Lachey 02.04.10 at 10:44 am

I can’t tell you how happy I was to see this old gem pop up on the front page recent comments section because it gave me another chance to relive one of the great HearYa posts of all time.

So let me be the first to say thank you to whomever it was that decided to lecture us on the meaning of life, bringing this special, special post back to the forefront of my mind. Thank you so much for letting this post live on, rather than letting it fade into oblivion like Amy Winehouse’s career.

BTW, isn’t almost time for a HearYa Hall of Fame?

58 Anne 02.08.10 at 8:05 pm
