Amy Winehouse wins 5 Grammys, could use a fake tooth.
Published by oz February 10th, 2008 in Music Musings.
Not too long ago, I talked about how Amy Winehouse resembles a camel. They let her out of rehab just long enough to pull in 5 Grammys.
To celebrate, I decided to post another image of Amy Winehouse that will surely have you dry-heaving. It wouldn’t be that gross if she were merely missing a tooth, but you can actually see the empty crater where her tooth was once rooted into her gums.
Ugh Hughh! Pardon me there. I had some partially digested pizza rise back up into my esophagus. It’s all good. I swallowed it back down.
It’s not just the tooth crater that’s grossing me out either. Her matted, unwashed hair makes me equally queezy. It looks like she’s starting to grow long, curly sideburns like the orthodox Jews. And what’s that spot next to her eye? Did someone try to stab her in the eyeball with a Sharpie and barely miss?
Oh well. Mazel tov, Amy. Mazel tov and lekhayiim.

I think Simon would have said, ” If I’m being honest, that was the worst audition ever” Maybe I just don’t get her but I didn’t get Bob Dillon either. I think by awarding her a grammy…for that awful song…it just made everyone elses grammy that much less valuable. Apparently, they’ll give one of those things to anyone. What a shame…what ever happened to good music?
how ironic that the whole point is to talk about the music, yet you spent the entire post nitpicking every aspect of her face like your life depends on it. we all know what amy winehouse looks like…that kind of pointless rant is SO old now.
Obviousley her music doesn’t make most people regurgitate pizza chunks. Her face…yeah, but at least the music gurus over at grammy-town aren’t worrying about camel resemblence these days.
Its no wonder the poor girl got herself so screwed up and in such a mess with booze and drugs when nasty bitchy people like you just critisise her appearance and have such an opinion on what she looks like all the time - So what !!!!!! She is a singer for god sake not a supermodel - I think she looks awsome - she is unique and has teeth missing - but so what !!!!!!! She’s amazing and quite clearly you are just jealous - and probably look like the back end of a bus yourself

It’s an old picture - we have all seen it.
I log on to read about music. This is not the first time that Oz writes like he is an insecure frat boy.
Less Oz please. More Woody.
I think we all have to support her even with our posts and comments.
Helping people is something that comes to you back one day!

The fact that Ms. Winehouse is an incredible talent who stomped all over other artists last night at the Grammys surely trumps her disheveled appearance.
When you have drug problems, the first thing to go is your hygeine. I feel for Amy and hope she takes responsibility for herself and continues to get help.
I really believe that her Grammy triumph is a message from the universe telling her to appreciate what has been given; this is a second chance, Amy, don’t screw it up. It would be tragic if she were to disappear when her music is so great. I’m a musician myself and haven’t been this excited about a female artist in years. Good for you, Amy. Please don’t throw it all away.
And many kudos to Herbie Hancock for Album of the Year. Jazz STILL rocks, hahaha!

I come to the site for music insight and entertainment. I think Oz’s post is hilarious and was clearly extreme on purpose. Sorry that the humor was lost on some of you.
So what if she has a missing tooth. The girl is talented.
It is refreshing that an artist can win a grammy (or 5) on artistic merit alone. I thought those days were gone and the era of “the whole marketing package” were here to stay. It’s clear that you won’t be seeing Amy pushing cosmetic products or doing many endorsements on TV. And to me…that’s great! That’s why we have Beyonce. She does it all, and quite well. Let Amy do her thing in the studio and on the stage…or at the pub if that’s what she chooses. When an artist comes along and achieves success with her music alone…I think that is a testament to the power of music. The power of good music. It cuts through the crap and makes people take notice.
I’ll admit, I never became a huge H.W. fan. Her album sat in my itunes all summer and never made it onto the iPod. However, when mixing a track and I needed a quick reference to inspire that old school sound with a modern twist…her album was a “Go To”. The vibe on those recordings is rediculous.
Congrats to Amy and her band.
Onto other things Grammy:
The best moment of the night was when Vince Gill delivered that quick, off the cuff stinger to Kanye. No one could have said it better.
She did get her tooth fixed

use new pics instead of really old ones.
Kudos To Amy -
Yes, I don’t understand her look but hey, beauty comes from within and if her music is a reflection of her spirit inside …she’s quite a beauty! It’s actually refreshing to see someone be recognized for their music and not the “whole Hollywood package” .
Maybe a little understanding and kindness might be the order of the day. she’s got a long road back to recovery and let’s hope that she can use the “pain” to inspire more great music.
And yes, a great big Stetson hats off to Vince Gill….i was getting a little “Kanyed out” with his self-serving ego-maniacal attitude!
Great show though! and what an inspiration Tina is…hope i’m in that great a shape at 50 let alone 68 !! Two legs up to her!!!!
SanLam
Ps to Dassymiss….it’s Bob DYLAN not Dillon……
Loosen up people. She’s become kind of a joke….like Pop’s Britney. It’s a train wreck. Love how it got you all riled up!
Insecure frat boy. I love it!
You, my friend, are an idiot. If you knew what you were talking about, Amy went to the dentist on Saturday and got her tooth replaced. I mean, i know it is wierd for us to see a celebrity who is not wrapped up in the Hollywood lifestyle but I think it is refreshing that she doesnt care what anyone thinks of her. She isnt carrying around the latest 5000 oversized bag or 3000 high heels. She is true to her roots. So what is she likes to spend her money on partying. Amy is a talented one-of-a-kind musician and we havent seen anyone like her in a very very long time. All of the Britneys and Christina’s of the world can drown in a pool of hollywood glamour.
How are all you people so current on Amy’s dentist visits? Take things seriously much? I like Amy Winehouse’s music, but as a person, she’s a mess.
You know, my husband hates her, I like her. I love all these comments about her, anything that fosters any dialog that does bring our attention to the ridiculous fact that people are obsessed with all these things but the music. I do think she’s talented, and like the heavy metal of the 80s, which I loved, she is not for everybody. I’m glad, because I’ll always get a cheap ticket to an interesting show.
I really enjoyed the Daft Punk number, despite it being with Kanye. I thought the Mama number was a little too “poor me” for my taste. And I loved the Vince Gill comment as well.
And I could’ve done without all the crappy Beatles junk.
And Tool should have won for the Pot, instead of Food Fighters.
Have a wonderful day and listen to something you never would today.
Personally, I don’t like her music. I could care less what she looks like. If I am itching for a retro fix, I’ll reach for Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. As Oz’s partner in crime, I will say two things. 1) This isn’t my favorite post we have ever done and 2) That being said, lighten up. I like Pete Doherty’s music but it certainly doesn’t affect my day when someone takes a swipe at him.
The thing that really strikes me is that we post some stuff on some amazing bands that deserve alot more attention than they get. And yet, we’ll get one comment or two. But this gets, including mine, 18. I just don’t get it.
Anyway, I was happy to see the Glossary post right after it. Great band.
I would also like to take the time out to thank my one and only groupie, Alye. Congratulations you are hereby appointed as the president of Woody fan club.
If we can’t ridicule celebrities who can we ridicule?
I knew it was an old picture, but thought I’d try to have some fun after watching another horrible awards show.
Thanks for the tooth knowledge everyone. Keep me posted on any future dental work.
I personally think the chatter this post has generated is great. It’s good to see some real dialogue about music-related topics, and even some viewpoints challenged. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so don’t get too upset if you don’t agree with it. After all, 1) this is America, not communist Russia, and 2) HearYa was created to DISCUSS music (hence the name), not just have something crammed down your throat - that’s what the radio is for.
Above all, never take anything on this site too seriously (especially the foolishness I write). It’s supposed to be fun! Hooray!
More sense of humor. Less bitching. How much great music knowledge and insight does this site provide w/ nothing in return? For those that got that worked up about it, let’s see some contribution of your own first. The dentist thing was amazing…you my friend are either reading too much supermarket gossip crap-o-mags or stalking Amy’s every movement. This commentary made my day, the crazy internet collective is alive and well and apparently up all night…long live HearYa! Oz, Woody & DB - keep up the great after work work.
Tom, you are so right. I love America and the First Amendment. Everyone who made a comment here has a right to make a comment, isn’t that great?
…”The crazy internet collective is alive and well…” too right, my friend!
I’m smiling.
P.S., Natalie Cole needs to chill. She’s the pot calling the kettle black and I got a big kick out of her self-righteous diatribe on how Amy didn’t deserve to win on Grammy night. Ms. Winehouse, despite her problems, is one in a million.
Re: natalie cole….
Amen to Kat! ….
SanLam from …Canada….oops! am I allowed to voice my opinion here?!
Canucks are welcome to voice opinions too. Wait. Can I say Canucks? Is that offensive?
Speaking of dental work, I’ve reflected further on my post and I realized that I’m actually missing the same tooth that Amy is. It was a freak accident in college when someone stole my bagel at 2am. I tried chasing them and landed tooth first on the curb. I’ve since been fitted with a really nice fakie.
See everyone. Amy and I actually are kindred spirits and my post can be characterized as the pot calling the kettle black…except I don’t smoke crack or do heroin or take pills or get my stomach pumped on a regular basis.
