Grayson Capps - Songbones
Published by oz January 15th, 2008.
After posting the Radio Moscow Live Session, you may have noticed a few days of inactivity on HearYa. The wife, dog and I headed up to Sonoma to meet my brother, four of my best friends and their spouses for some meat grilling, wine drinking, and card playing.
Since I was the only music blogger in the house, I assumed the DJ duties for the weekend and situated myself at the stereo. That first night, I scrolled through my iPod catalog to find something that would capture the mood as we played euchre by the fire with more bottles of red wine and Coors Light than we knew what to do with (That was a lie. We knew what to do with those). I ran across Songbones by Grayson Capps and hit play. Let’s just say that Grayson now has some new fans in Seattle, Denver, Kansas City, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio.
Grayson Capps is a singer/songwriter from New Orleans, born in Alabama, and no stranger to America’s saloons and barrooms. He plays a brand of country-blues that I can’t find enough these days. His voice is gruff and soulful, his songs are sincere and honest, and his album Songbones, is one of the best albums I ran across in 2007. I’m just sorry it took me so long to mention it. If you like the track below, you’ll enjoy the album.

Hey thanks. I love Grayson and posted you onto today’s No News Ladder.
Thanks for keeping the light on.

yeah, thanks for posting about grayson capps. he’s a true american treasure! so nice to hear other people are checking his music out.
Grayson Capps is slowly gaining a dedicated fanbase across the world. Check out his CD “If You Knew My Mind”. It is full of wonderful music. Also, try and see the movie “A Love Song for Bobby Long” starring John Travolta and Scarlett Johannson. Grayson’s father wrote the novel on which the movie is based and his music is featured throughout.
