Aesop Rock

Despite my Iowa upbringing and lanky, pale stature, I believe I’m the unofficial rap writer at HearYa. There’s something about a well produced beat and some clever lyrics that get me going, and I have absolutely no problem making that known. And while you won’t ever catch me doing the Solja Boi, I do know every word to Shake Ya Tailfeather (yes, both the Ray Charles and Sean Combs versions).

And well, here’s the thing: Aesop Rock is white. So is El-P who produced a good portion of his new disc, None Shall Pass. And actually, come to think of it, so is John Darnielle (of Mountain Goats fame) who guest stars on this track. So to all our pale white, off-white and non-white friends out there, get down with Aesop Rock and John Darnielle. Bob your head. Shaking your tailfeather is optional.
