Cracker played a big part in shaping my musical tastes. Camper Van Beethoven was a bit before my time, but Cracker’s 1993 release Kerosene Hat introduced me to the discography of both bands. Part punk, rock, country, alternative, ska…anything else? Pretty much anything I listen to these days has a little bit of Cracker soul in it.
And some of they lyrics? My god. Pure poetry.
“All these cats with holey jeans, dirty hair and titty rings,
Say what’s your scene man, we got these questions.
Is it true that you have sold your soul? I say hey man, I don’t know
Lend me a quarter won’t you, I’ll call my accountant.”
Some choice live selections:
Cracker Live at Toad’s Place on 2007-12-01 (December 1, 2007)
Cracker - Lonesome Johnny Blues
Cracker - The Man in Me (Bob Dylan Cover and Lebowski’s tune)
Cracker - Take Me Down to the Infirmary
Cracker Live at The Roxy on 2005-09-23 (September 23, 2005)
Cracker - Take the Skinheads Bowling
Cracker - Another Song About the Rain (one of my favorites)
Cracker is still touring through the end of the year. They’ll be at the Independent in San Fran on the 27th and 28th of December.

I freaking love Cracker. “Eurotrash Girl” is an all-time favorite - it still consistently makes my iTunes mixes. Thanks for the additional tunes.
