Top 50 Halloween Songs, Part 2

by Drinking Buddy on October 10, 2007

Part two of the two part series. Let’s also recognize this year’s Half Moon Bay, CA Pumpkin Festival winner (pictured above). That’s a 1,524 pound pumpkin and, as you can tell from the picture, quite a thrilling experience to be a winner.

On to the music…

Dying
I don’t like joking around about death. These songs are good, though.

17. Undertaker – M. Ward
18. I Will Be There When You Die – My Morning Jacket
19. Dead Man’s Will – Calexico & Iron and Wine
20. Death is the Easy Way – My Morning Jacket
21. Drunk is Better than Dead – The Push Stars
22. Died in Your Arms Tonight – Cutting Crew
23. Eulogy for Bashu – Cracklin Moth

Halloween
Whose favorite holiday is Halloween? Chicago’s very own Mayor Richard Daley. He truly is a horse’s ass. Anyway, I could only find 3 bearable songs about Halloween itself.

24. Halloween – Dave Matthews Band
25. Halloween – Matt Pond, PA
26. Halloweenhead – Ryan Adams

Costumes

The best Halloween costume I ever saw was a guy that dressed up as the Denorex man. Or Daniel LaRusso’s shower costume from Karate Kid. Also, per the below Counting Crows song, should I be worried about Adam Duritz?

27. Brilliant Disguise – Bruce Springsteen
28. Outfit – Drive-By Truckers
29. Rodeo Clowns – Jack Johnson
30. I Wish I Was A Girl – Counting Crows
31. Resignation Superman – Big Head Todd & The Monsters

The Supernatural
Despite the title of this category, there won’t be a single song from Carlos Santana in here. Not until he shaves his moist-looking mustache. His mustache should be called a “moistache”.

32. Monster Ballads – Josh Ritter
33. Searching for the Ghost – Heartless Bastards
34. Monsters – Ari Hest
35. Ghost – Howie Day
36. Witchcraft – Frank Sinatra
37. Magic Trick – M. Ward
38. Casper the Friendly Ghost – Daniel Johnston
39. Demons – Guster
40. Darlin’ Do Not Fear – Brett Dennen
41. Paranoid – Black Sabbath
42. Superstitious – Stevie Wonder

Al Gore – Inventor of the Internet and Reverser of Global Warming

These songs are all about blood, guts, and gore. Speaking of blood, has there ever been a worse show than Grey’s Anatomy? Sandra Oh looks like a potato. I vomited the episode she didn’t have any eyebrows.

43. Anything by The Gore Gore Girls
44. Scar Tissue – Red Hot Chili Peppers
45. Sunday Bloody Sunday – U2
46. Blood – Pearl Jam

Pressed Ham
Did anyone else used to drive around in their buddies’ car in high school, stick their can out the window, and yell “Moon’s out!”??? Me neither. Anyhow, it wouldn’t be Halloween without a full moon.

47. Harvest Moon – Neil Young
48. Pink Moon – Nick Drake
49. Moonshadow – Cat Stevens
50. What’s Next to the Moon – Mark Kozelek
