[...] I rolled into the studio with a fresh twelve-pack of frosty cold Miller Lites for the band and introduced myself to Joe Pug and the rest of the group: Jeremy Miller on bass, old HearYa friend Rocco Labriola on pedal steel, and a young lady with the voice of an angel that introduced herself as Quinn. Considering how talented he is, Joe couldn’t have been a friendlier, more humble guy. [...]

[...] I found it hard to make it past the first track, “Hymn 101,” just because it is so damn good. After taking that song off repeat and listening to the rest of Nation of Heat, I knew I’d be addicted. Here I am, almost a week later, and the album has still not left my player. Rocco Labriola, formerly pedal steel/lead guitar in the now defunct Cracklin Moth, is playing with Joe Pug so I’d recommend checking them out around the local Chicago circuit.
[...] Ever since the HearYa Live Session with Cracklin Moth, I’ve been dying to watch The Devil and Daniel Johnston, a documentary chronicling the life of the prolific, profoundly disturbed singer-songwriter. Cracklin Moth’s Rocco Labriola strongly recommended the film, and the band even went so far as to do a badass cover of Johnston’s “Walking the Cow” during their Live Session, which can be found here.
[...] 1. Night’s like tonight (Friday) are the reason I love living in Chicago so much. Playing together at the historic Metro are two HearYa Live Session alums. Cracklin Moth and The Record Low take the stage at 9 tonight. Also at Schubas, Oz’s favorites (and subsequent influence for the infamous “Pitchfork Ass Blowing” post) Scott H. Biram and Radio Moscow are playing at 10. This would normally be a difficult choice for me; deciding between 2 bands that I know I like but have seen several times and 2 other bands bringing something fresh to the table. However, the decision has already been made for me, I’ll be working at the bar from 9 until 2 tonight listening to acoustic covers of Sweet Caroline and the drunken masses who sing the “ba ba ba”s. Please, someone go in my stead. [...]

[...] Oz: Cracklin Moth - Eulogy for Bashu (exclusive at HearYa) Thanks to Adrian, I’m actually obsessed with Or, the Whale right now. At HearYa, however, we recently recorded a live session in Chicago with a band called Cracklin Moth. They’ve released two EP’s and have a unique alt-country sound, thanks to Matt Ammerman’s vocals and Rocco Labriola’s pedal steel. “Eulogy for Bashu” is a previously unreleased track that is glued to my ears.
This is one of the best bands I've heard on HearYa. I think I might have to make a trip to Chicago for their show with the Record Low. Its a HearYa special....

I love the Cracklin Moth as well. I was hoping for a live version of "Special", which is on the Redbird EP, but each of these are outstanding.

Also, love the extremely obscure Bo Diaz reference. Here he is for those (all) of you who are not familiar with him:
