Frank Smith – Heavy Handed Peace and Love

Frank Smith

HearYa has been a little heavy on country music lately, but for good reason I think. It’s summer, the grill is on every night, and the beer is flowing a little more than usual. I’m enjoying the warm evenings listening to anything with the twang of the pedal steel. My latest pleasure has been Frank Smith, an Austin band by way of Boston.

Frank Smith is not a man. It’s a band. Their latest album, Heavy Handed Peace and Love, finds beauty in its simplicity. “Throwin’ Rocks” is the standout track for me, but all the songs flow together to weave a nice little tapestry of Country-Americana. It’s an album you’ll take with you on a long road trip or to comfort you around the campfire.

I like these guys. Easy going porch music. My one question is, “Who the hell is Frank Smith?”
