Wooden Wand is already back to follow up to his 2006 release, Second Attention, that featured backing by The Sky High Band. His upcoming solo release entitled James & The Quiet is a nice follow up to last year’s folk album and is easier to swallow than some of his earlier work. He seems to be finding pleasure in writing simpler folk tunes with less psychedelic weirdness. I’m grateful. James Toth is a gifted wordsmith who’s songs hold up on their own with a simple guitar accompaniment. No experimentation required.
