James Apollo – Hide Your Heart in a Hive

James Apollo

Have you ever driven through west Texas?‚  I once rented a car and drove from Abilene to Lubbock, then over to Midland and Odessa before making it back to “civilization” in Ft. Worth.‚  There are long stretches of road in those parts where the only signs of life are roadkill.‚  I saw a wild boar rotting in the sun and pulled over for a viewing just to break the drive’s monotony.‚  As the sun goes down, however, you’ll gaze out at the desert‚ and wonder what it’s‚ like to be‚ stranded, sleeping under those stars. I have a feeling James Apollo knows exactly what its like.

James Apollo’s birth certificate shows that he’s from Libertyville, AR. If you read his bio, however, he’ll describe himself as a hobo, nomad, or tumbleweed, rolling through the underbelly of rock and roll to learn all of life’s lessons and find his music. I started listening to “I’ve Got It Easy” and it sounds like the perfect song to keep you company if you were making your way through west Texas on foot, or maybe just down on your luck.

James is an old school troubadour that relishes hard-luck experiences to inspire his western-folk stylings. He is probably touring in a van somewhere, but I like to picture him hopping freight trains across the country to play at any old watering hole that will take him in.
