Make an iPod Case from a Bicycle Tire

Ipod Case

From the You’ve Got Way Too Much Time on Your Hands Department, Wired Magazine’s blog just posted step by step instructions to make your own iPod Nano case, complete with lanyard, from your bicycle tire inner tube. Color me lazy, but I think I’d rather pay $10 on a real product and do no manual labor than spend $5 on a bicycle inner tube and hours of spare time trying to construct my own.

I’ll give them points for creativity and (assuming the author was paid) points for having one of the best jobs ever.

This is the most stupid and cheapskate waste of time lol… c’mon dude, i paid 130 pounds on a cool looking ipod nano and why do i wanna make it look like crap with a bike tube wrapped round it.. if u wanna protect ur ipod.. you do it.. and make it look good… its only gonna cost like 10 pound for a skin.

Agreed. I think their next installment will show us how to use the inner tube scraps to make your own contraceptive.

That story reminds me of this standup comedian I once heard say, “I just bought my own wok. Now I can make my own mediocre chinese food at home for 25 cents less.”
