New Dirtbombs Album in Sept. ’07

Dirtbombs

Great news! just read the following on The Dirtbombs myspace page:

“The Dirtbombs are in the midst of recording a new album, currently scheduled for a September release. Originally it was going to be a 5-song, 12″ release but it’s been so long since a complete LP of original material, Mick and the gang decided to go all out and make a full record. It should be completed by July but we’ll keep you updated (if we feel like it). The album is tentatively titled We Have You Surrounded.

And guess what folks: There should be videos to go along with this new album. However, in case some of you have the following question, you should know that this will not be the much talked about bubblegum record.”

For those of you not familiar with this double-bass, double-drum outfit out of Detroit, you should be ashamed of yourself. The Dirtbombs have put out three albums so far; each with a different theme. 1998′s Horndog Fest was punk, 2001′s Ultraglide In Black was all R&B and soul covers, and 2003′s Dangerous Magical Noise was more on the garage-rock side.

Mick Collins is a musical genius. I am anxiously awaiting whatever twist is in store on his forthcoming album. In the meanwhile enjoy these MP3s.

Holy Schmoly!
I’d almost completely forgotten ’bout The Dirtbombs, despite them being one of the best gigs I’ve ever seen. Colour me excited in every possible way…
