Our coverage of Bay area bands keeps getting better and better, thanks to a thriving San Francisco music scene. The New Centuries are the newest band I’ve been listening to and it’s not my usual flavor of music. They have a sound that is a throwback to the keyboard heavy, alternative movement of the 80′s.
Among their list of influences, you’ll find the Talking Heads, Wolf Parade, and Sonic Youth. I’d also throw in The Church and Echo and the Bunnymen. Regardless of the comparisons you’ll draw when listening to The New Centuries on their self-titled EP, you’ll also hear an up and coming band putting out solid tracks while they continue to polish their sound.
