Have I ever mentioned that I love The Black Keys? I’ve been a huge fan since their early days and it’s not even because I’m from Ohio. I’m also gaining more and more respect for Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney for what they are doing behind the scenes. Patrick started his own label called Audio Eagle Records and he’s working hard to bring some other Ohio bands into your consciousness.
Meanwhile, Dan is out producing bands that are following right in the Keys’ blues-stomping boots. One of our favorites is Radio Moscow out of Ames, IA. Dan also recently finished producing a new album from another young, Midwestern blues crew from Lincoln, Nebraska named Brimstone Howl. They are one part blues and one part punk, with a low-fi, fuzzy twist. And all energy.
That’s the third Alive Records album Dan has produced by my count (SSM was the other). Brimstone Howl’s debut will be out on May 22nd. “Bad Seed” is the first track released and by the sounds of it, I’m guessing they unleash the fury at their live shows.
You can listen to “Bad Seed” below and I’ve also tossed in the MP3’s from Dan’s other projects.

Everything I hear from these has me excited about the release. Pretty much everything Alive puts out rocks so I don’t see why this will be any different.
