Careless Hearts, Commercials, and Albert Hammond Jr Prize Pack

Careless Hearts

Last week Tom from Twangville threw up a post on The Careless Hearts, a SF-based foursome.

They come from the same side of the tracks as The Old 97’s and Bottle Rockets. The first listen impressed me enough to make an iTunes purchase (a rarity for me). For fans of alt-country, I would check out the band and the blog. the Careless Hearts self-titled debut and the blog are excellent and well worth your time.

Careless Hearts – Chattering Teeth

Our friends over at Broken Dial have a contest to promote the new Albert Hammond Jr album. Head over there to win an autographed cd and t-shirt. I just realized that the contest ends today (sorry for the late notice).

And Finally, Joe over at Each Note Secure put together a list of commercials that feature great songs. Ever since Nissan played SRV’s version of “Voodoo Child” to promote the Xterra (I’m pretty sure it was the Xterra), I’ve noticed that advertisers are really tapping into some good music. Now that I DVR all my shows, I miss out on the new ones. Great list, Joe.

One omission from the great songs in commercials list is the Cadillac SRX ad featuring M. Ward’s “Here Comes the Sun Again”

You can see it here, under “Sun”:
