LetThereBeMusic.org and CHRIS Kids

by oz on February 19, 2007

Some HearYa friends started a new charity called Let There Be Music, committed to teaching children that have been abused, neglected, or abandoned how to play an instrument.

They are partnering with an organization called CHRIS Kids (Children Have Rights In Society) that already works with such children in Atlanta. The idea is to have musicians donate time to teach and mentor while others donate money or instruments to provide children with the tools they need to get going.

They already have several musicians interesting in teaching and we have a lot of sponsors. Each sponsor is responsible for a single child and can usually outfit them with what they need for under $200. In some cases, people might join together to sponsor someone. The biggest shortage they have is with musicians. If you are a musician in Atlanta, or know one, let them know about this cause.

Also, if you have an instrument in the closet that you are not playing please consider donating it. (If you haven’t played it in five years then give it up!).

Wow, that’s so nice. And it is in Atlanta? Now I know what to do with that clarinet I haven’t touched since high school…=3 Thanks for letting us know about this.

Thx so much for the props. We need all the help we can get. The blurb was great but I’m completely mesmerized by the popup web site previews. Those are blowing my mind!!! It’s good to find your blog, I’ll drop in on you from time to time.
